GASTRONOMIC AND CREATIVE EXPERIENCES IN THE LANDSCAPE OF THE GENIUSES

The geniuses left such a mark on the landscapes they fell in love with that it is also possible to follow them in the kitchens and even in the pantries. Today, they have inspired chefs and food artisans, who offer gastronomic choices and tasty local products based on the anecdotes, life and work of Picasso, Miró, Gaudí and Casals. Gastronomic experiences that make the Geniuses’ Landscape Route more than a simple artistic event, and also an invitation to go into detail about the cuisine, food, history, culture, roots and land that made these four universal artists fall in love with.

The project “The Cuisine of the Geniuses” has been launched by the University Rovira i Virgili’s School of Tourism and Geography of Vila-seca, within the setting of the 3rd Catalan Kitchen Congress in the Camp de Tarragona, with the collaboration of the Landscape of the Geniuses.

MIRÓ AND MONT-ROIG

Joan Miró arrived to Mas Miró in Mont-roig for the first time in 1911 to recuperate from an illness. Mas Miró is the place where Joan Miró conceived and created his universe and where he painted the works that launched him internationally as one of the most universal artists of the moment. Miró, who for 65 years spent the summer at the mas, found in Mont-roig the necessary inspiration to create.

Mas Miró can be visited and visitors can enter such sacred spaces as Joan Miró’s studio, his creative temple.

MONT-ROIG MIAMI’S BEST TASTES AND FLAVOURS

The plain of the Camp de Tarragona has been since ever a fruitful land from which people have been able to get its best fruits. Nowadays, this traditional agriculture offers us typical Mediterranean products, such as oil, calçot and carob flour. The weather, with mild temperatures and influenced by the mestral, and the nutrient-rich soil, are both key factors in offering us products that are renowned for their quality.
